You can say it. It's OK. A large portion of people posting items on both topics are more interested in making these issues about themselves than they are taking up a cause.

You can say it. It's OK. A large portion of people posting items on both topics are more interested in making these issues about themselves than they are taking up a cause.

That's not exactly it. I think most of them are truly engaged and easily fired up and worldly. It's just that usually the same people tend to show that they are truly engaged and easily fired up and worldly in the same way. And those are the people who tend to be the kind of people who have visited Paris.

If it was Spain people would care, and they are only kind of white.

The United States is essentially a Europe annex. Same political systems. Same culture. Americans visit Europe. They are real places to people.

Somalia is a war-torn country in Africa that hardly anyone from the U.S. visits.

I'm not saying it's right. But it's not solely about race.

I would think another big part of it is that Somalia, like some other places, is a war-torn country.

Americans see a major attack there, and they just figure, "Eh, there's always been violence there for decades. No biggee."
