Neil Patrick Harris tonight. Okay, I'll stick around...

Decent open. Pretty good monologue. Then:
SCREEEEEEEEEEEECH! And the show comes to a dead stop on the first skit, mocking Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford's fourth hour of the Today show. Why the **** do I still give this piece of **** a chance?

Is there a new girl replacing Poehler who they didn't credit in the opening credits?

She did the cold open, then she was in the later part of the second skit.

She was the first girl in the featured, or whatever they call them, cast. The b-team.
Second skit was pretty good. I cracked up when the rest of the Broadway singers started doing the song from Rent.

That was Chris Elliott's daughter? Wow. I didn't think she looked like that.

Really? Outstanding?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it. It was the Doogie Howser theme. And where was the comedy?

I dunno. But with those front teeth, I think she may be John Elway's illegitimate daughter.
EDIT: I will say this for her, though. She's cute (in that 18yo ingenue way), can sing a little and actually plays an instrument. More than you can say for many young stars these days. Oh, and she's singing live (yeah, Ashley Simpson, that means you).

I should be a fan. She is, after all, a Berks County, Pa., girl.

Incidentally, Wikipedia's already reported that she just became the youngest country performer ever to appear on SNL.

Yep. Remember the Barney sketch, when he played Barkley one-on-one, and Charles gave him a devastating elbow?

I had no idea she was a country singer. Doesn't sound country at all.

They didn't reach any epic levels of suckitude tonight. No laughable clunkers.

They are going to miss Poehler, although Wiig is on her way to becoming a superstar.

The comedy was at the end, when there was a tear running down his face.

And I laughed hard.

Best show of the season. Which is a lot like saying the next MLB game will be the best of the year. But still. I actually laughed at most of the skits. I just do not get Will Forte, but his BCS song was great.

And I love Wiig--and in an honest, legitimate, she may someday need a court order to keep me 500 feet away way--but she's already quickly descending into predictability. She plays crazy people who repeat themselves and are desperate for attention. We get it. There was no difference between the cuckoo she played in the Liza skit and the character she played in Knocked Up. I think she's got a lot of talent, but they need to actually use her.

My favorite Wiig skits (keep in mind I haven't seen a live SNL in years) are the ones where she does the woman who has the hot-air balloon rides or the horseback riding company. I can't remember her name. But the sheer awkwardness/local TV commercial thing makes me giggle.
