The lads are getting the job done.

And at the same time that your blue shirts are surging.
Yup.

My plan was just to have as much quality depth as possible. Last year, if someone got hurt, I was pretty much done for. This season, Shea Webber misses close to a month with a knee injury and it wasn't a killer.

My seven-day reign of terror came to an inglorious end, due to an 11-3 thrashing at the hands of Not Poodle!!!

Here are your up-to-the-split-second standings:

I return to first despite stupidly losing a Brodeur shutout on my bench.

This week, it's a battle of the top two teams on the schedule.
And I presume both teams have an eye on the team currently residing in third, which will take a week's worth of frustration and angst out on The Crosby Show.

The Not Poodles had a nice week.

Hopefully I can climb into the top half og the standings.

The Hammers will rise again, despite stupidly dropping Bryzgalov thinking he was headed to the minors instead of to four consecutive victories.

Armchair_QB's Charlestown Chiefs kick my Stormin' Canes around the ice 10-4-5 to take over first place, so here are the standings through nine weeks:

1. Charlestown Chiefs 89-55-27 .599 205 10-4-5 6 8
2. Stormin' Canes 86-56-29 .588 201 4-10-5 12 9
3. Agitating Avery's 84-63-24 .561 192 8-9-2 4 2
4. Hammers 79-65-27 .541 185 8-8-3 2 13
5. TheCrosbyShow 77-70-24 .520 178 9-8-2 7 10
6. The Rolling Rocks 73-71-27 .506 173 7-8-4 8 12
7. Not Poodle!!! 69-68-34 .503 172 8-7-4 5 3
8. Cape Fear Flyers 71-74-26 .491 168 8-8-3 11 5
9. Ice Capades 66-76-29 .471 161 18-0-1 10 7
10. North Dakotan 62-82-27 .442 151 8-8-3 3 1
11. Chicago Brawlers 57-87-27 .412 141 8-8-3 1 6
12. Laying Pipe 46-92-33 .365 125 0-18-1 9 1

I just need the Chiefs and HB's Agitating Avery's to have one of those 8-8 games this week so I can retake first place. :)

The Chiefs add to their lead and the Crosby Show continues to move up after being around the middle of the league a few weeks ago and now are tied with my Stormin' Canes for second. The Hammers also coming on after a big week and are only three points out of second:

1. Charlestown Chiefs 129-80-38 .599 296 9-7-3 12 12
2. TheCrosbyShow 122-87-38 .571 282 9-4-6 6 16
3. Stormin' Canes 122-87-38 .571 282 9-8-2 11 13
4. Hammers 120-88-39 .565 279 12-2-5 2 16
5. Not Poodle!!! 103-97-47 .512 253 9-8-2 5 6
6. Agitating Avery's 106-105-36 .502 248 2-12-5 4 3
7. Cape Fear Flyers 106-106-35 .500 247 15-3-1 10 6
8. Ice Capades 96-105-46 .482 238 4-9-6 9 7
9. The Rolling Rocks 94-119-34 .449 222 8-9-2 7 16
10. Chicago Brawlers 92-118-37 .447 221 8-9-2 1 11
11. North Dakotan 90-122-35 .435 215 3-15-1 3 1
12. Laying Pipe 68-134-45 .366 181 7-9-3 8 1

Six weeks without a win.

Averys have to take that out on someone. Soon.

I have a decent shot at tying the three-season league record with an 18-0 victory and could break the record.

My Stormin' Canes lead by that score over the Cape Fear Flyers with Brodeur's shutout tonight. I figure to be safe in the goalie categories (and will bench my goalies for the rest of the week) and only the 3-1 PPG lead seems to be in danger (but you never know.)

Now if I could just get a short-handed goal, I could get the elusive perfect week.

In Week 9 earlier this season, the Ice Capades tied the league record with an 18-0 win over Laying Pipe. The only other 18-0 win in the three-year history of this SportsJournalists.com league was recorded in 2005-06 season by Zamboni Roadkill over TheCrosbyShow in Week 14.

The biggest win in the 2004-05 season was a 16-0 win by Melrose's Place Week 16 over Stevie Y's Swan Song.

Let's Go Cape Fear Flyers, Let's Go!

Sorry, OD, since I am the only one to have 18-0 wins (I'm Ice Capades and I was Zamboni Roadkill), I need to keep that record intact. :D

Coincidentally, I was also on the losing end of that 16-0 matchup.

This week is simply an aberration since 3/4 of my team hadn't played until tonight. We are putting no more stock in this week than Hillary is in Iowa.

Besides, Philly has the Leafs tomorrow night. Let the comeback begin.
