Is it just me or does April bring out the crazies? Between the religious violence, school shootings and various family massacres and terror plots, it's not just the flowers that come back in the Spring time.

1) I was thisclose to going there instead of where I went for school.

2) A stop for a few years not so long ago. While it's sickening no matter where it occurs, it seems more so with places that left good memories.

Who gave him the gun?

Where he got the gun he used is a question to which I hope the public will get an answer.

An autism diagnosis in and of itself would not be disqualifying to gun ownership, though the severity of it might be. That is to say: he may have been able to lawfully purchase one.

North Carolina law is actually surprisingly good on handgun purchases (if you believe in reasonable gun control measures) despite its system being rooted in Jim Crow racism.

It requires people wanting to purchase a handgun - regardless of whether it is from a dealer, private party or at a gun show - to get a permit from the sheriff. The sheriff must conduct a full criminal and mental health background check before issuing the permit.

South Carolina, on the other hand, only requires you show ID and pass an in-store background check, which is not as thorough.

What is the in-store background check?

"You ever murder anybody with a gun?"
"Um...."
"You gonna shoot me or rob me with it?"
"Nope."
"Here you go. Happy shooting."

Yeah ... but right now, our corner of the world is trying to fill a seat in the House for a congressman who died not long ago.

One of the candidates' TV campaigns is all about guns. Basically implies that all the leftist pinko Commies are trying to repeal the Second Amendment. Nauseating. Simply put, if someone from abroad came here and saw that ad, they would wonder what they got themselves into. If we did the same things abroad and saw an ad like that, the word "sh_thole" would be drug out again.

But they think it's a "YOU'RE NOT TAKING OUR GUNS FOR ANY REASON" narrative. Really disturbing ... and, again, a political ad.

Maybe I missed it.

I don't believe the story you're linking says he was armed.

I don't see any mention of him being armed when he confronted the shooter. He banged on the guy's window rather than pointing a weapon at him.

I didn't get that from the linked article.

I was speculating based on his appearance and the "on the spectrum" quote. IMHO people who want to kill other people for no reason tend to be unhappy. Incels and radical Muslims tend to be unhappy.

But poor white Christian people are just happy as anything with how their life is going?
