That's no way to talk about Rudy Martzke.

When doesn't Noah react to a play? The guy snarls and beats his chest after he pours a bowl of cereal.
Great line, Sweetness.

No doubt. Dude would beat his chest after he deflected a pass or force up a bad shot and get fouled. One of the most overrated players in college basketball, I think. He'll get exposed in the league.

Piotr Rasputin said:One of the great tourney moments is the regional final from two years ago, when Kentucky dude whose name escapes me hit a 3-pointer that bounced a few times before dropping through, tying the game at the regulation buzzer. According to legend (I can't vouch for the veracity personally), dude ran over to Packer to scream obscenities at the ass, and Packer, headphones on, reached out to high-five him.

Victor Smalley said:I loved during the title game when Packer went off about how he thinks players shouldn't have to foul out of games. He suggested that the opposing team should just get an extra free throw when a player with more than five fouls commits a foul. The funny thing about that is that the ABA -- a totally garbage league -- actually has that rule. The ABA recently fired John Salley as its commissioner ... maybe Packer could run the show.
Or how about when Tyler Hansbrough caught that elbow in the face from Gerald Henderson? Packer kept going on and on about how it wasn't intentional and how the refs made a mistake in calling it flagrant. Meanwhile, the replay is showing the mugging over and over again.
Packer, Vern Lunquist and the other old-ass announcers are like Brett Favre. They've stayed in the game way, way too long. I can't even count how many times I heard Lunquist call guys by the wrong name during the NCAA Tournament. I know these guys were good once, but isn't there an entire generation of younger announcers who could take over the mic?

Hate to disagree with someone named Budcrew, but different strokes for different folks, I guess. I've heard Raftery is a nice man, and he seems enthusiastic enough, but I absolutely can't stand to listen to him.
To me, he's worse than Vitale, who is a self-parody. Raftery shouts almost everything he says to the point of sounding like a drunk at the end of a bar, and his pet phrases aren't exactly clever. He sounds like a hack. Worse, he sounds obsolete. He adds nothing, except his little pet phrases, like man-to-man!, which you can't understand, anyway.
What's interesting is that the top three analysts -- Packer, Vitale and Raftery -- are all white men in their 60s. Why can't they find new blood? I watched the women's game the other night, and, while I think Mike Patrick is an ingratiating, over-the-hill blowhard who always sounds out-of-breath, I thought Doris Burke was very good.

Fag - verb - fagged or fagging
1. to tire or weary by labor; exhaust (often fol. by out): The long climb fagged us out.
Leave it to Packer to use that word in a sentence in 2007. Turns out he still has a grip on the language. He's still a dumbass.
