1) Media outlets are not governed by the principles of federal law.
2) The coach needs to get her facts straight before going on a diatribe.

Coverage is (or at least should be) dictated by what readers demand to see.

Was there a monster outcry and anger over there being no media coverage of that game? If not, her beef is with the fans.

If there was, that's an issue that needs to be addressed by the media outlets with their readers/viewers.

For every Cori Close who goes into whine mode, there's someone like Dawn Staley who courts and respects the media, especially the locals.

We have a lot of coverage of women's sports, far above the norm, and they do get the centerpiece in print and online a good number of times. Our website also lists the current most-read stories online and women's sports is almost never among them. Occasionally we'll get a complaint from a reader about this -- not about the lack of women's coverage, but specifically about not being in the top-read list -- as if somehow it's our fault other stories are more popular.
