Running Hurricane Gustav thread

MIAMI (AP) The National Hurricane center says Tropical Storm Gustav has formed in the central Caribbean, and is heading for the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

At 2 p.m. EST Monday reports from an Air Force Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicated that the storm had maximum winds near 60 mph.

Earlier in the day, when the storm was a tropical depression, forecasters said the center of the storm would be moving near or over southwestern Haiti on Tuesday.

The Dominican Republic and Haiti both issued tropical storm warnings for the southern and western parts of the island shared by the two countries.

I heard them talking on CNN last night that one of the towns in Florida — Tallahassee, maybe? — took on 20 inches of rain from Fay.

Maybe this one'll take a hard right turn out to sea.

Maybe this one'll take a hard right turn out to sea.

We had 24 inches of rain in 48 hours, and some cities near Melbourne had more than 30 inches of rain. There's so much water in the ground that it's bubbling to the surface. The river here is going to crest in two days, and it's expected to spill over its banks and flood several homes.

Fort Myers is within the 5-day cone I just saw (albeit, the outermost edge). It's way too early to think we're free and clear. A couple of jogs to the east is all it would take and then...
