It says in that poster that The Human Tornado is a "one man disaster"

Is his secret identity Ned Yost? :D

This will help you understand.

It just doesn't get any better. Check out the Dolemite and Disco Godfather trailers too.

Mistake acknowledged, but either we get clearer with the thread titles, or we quit bitching about d_b incidents.

I personally liked in the original, when Dolemite called the guy a "rat-soup eatin' mutha****a."

As for Gustav, it could be a mutha****a without the consumption of rat soup.

Do you work for the Port-au-Prince Journal?

I don't like the westward swing and the dip south of Cuba into ****-hot Caribbean water. This is looking a lot like Rita.
Rita or Ivan.

Very scary.

Someone is gonna get pasted by a 4. Damn.

Make sure you have a couple boxes with your key documents and items of intrinsic, sentimental value that can go into the back of the car.

Re: Hurricane wonks: Meet Gustav

It keeps being revised southward. We may be OK.

We? As in you?

Sure.

But the more south it tracks, the more people will die.

Re: Hurricane wonks: Meet Gustav

OK. I may be OK. That's who I'm most concerned about. ::)

It's exactly why I didn't make a peep. I'm in complete agreement.

Re: Hurricane wonks: Meet Gustav

Gustav is officially a hurricane. It's supposed to track west for a few days, but it hasn't made the turn to the west yet. Plus, it's predicted to break back to the northwest and get into the center of the Gulf.

Oh, and it's expected to be a major hurricane, possibly by the end of the day.

Projection by GFDL for Sunday night:

Horrible news for New Orleans and the coastal parishes if it proves accurate.

It'll be a cat 2 soon, cat 3 by the weekend. This is going to waylay some people.

Re: Hurricane wonks: Meet Gustav

There goes the price of gas, again.

Wonder if they'll get New Orleans fully evacuated this time? How strong will Gustav be when he arrives there? How much of New Orleans will be left after Gustav leaves?

All this and more will be answered ... next week. Same Bat-Time! Same Bat-Channel!

(Johnny ... get the hell outta there.)

Exactly.

Get some better thread titles, people.

Re: Hurricane wonks: Meet Gustav

J_D may be getting company soon.

Gustav pulled me out of SJ retirement. Being that I've been in New Orleans for a little more than a year, this guy more than has my attention.

I'm hoping the GFDL model is the outlier. But the models are more and more congregating around a Central Gulf point. I'm no hurricane expert (though I wish I was and might have been in a former life) but this guy does not look good for my fair city.

Re: Hurricane wonks: Meet Gustav

Knocking on wood, it's interesting how, while in my lifetime in the 20th Century, the prevailing Atlantic hurricane would miss Cuba, veering up east of Florida and usually slamming the Carolinas.

In this century so far, I believe there has been one storm to hit there.

Meanwhile, the Gulf of Mexico is catching bullets with far more frequency than it used to, at least in my memory.

Re: Hurricane wonks: Meet Gustav

Possible Cat 5 now, by the time it hits. Saw one site that said somewhere between Nawlins and Houston.

Another nasty one. There goes that that 3.59 for regular I've been paying.
