Just checking in to offer my congrats to Fenian, dog, and all the board Dems.

I mean, God help the unborn, but at least now maybe the gun zealots can be tamed for a while and we can get some good environmental and alternative energy initiatives.

Fixing Iraq? I'm hopeful but not optimistic. Think GWB and the past group in Congress already screwed the pooch there.

The funniest part of this all is that the Democrats are running around doing dances because they finally won -- yet once the dust settles they'll figure out that they have more issues now than ever. I mean, their formula was brilliant (although, a third grader could have come up with it given the political climate right now) -- find a bunch of moderate to conservatives with little baggage and run them out there against the unpopular war and less popular president orchestrating it.....the problem is most of the incoming deomcrats, like say, Heath Shuler and Bob Casey to name a few, have a whole lot more in common with the president and the right wing than they do the liberal democrat that will soon be the house majority leader and Charles Schumer, the two who orchestrated the strategy. So now what do they do? They have more seats in a congress that may actually become more conservative, at least socially.

First off, I doubt that freshmen legislators are going to slap the hand that fed them. Secondly, even if there are some moderates in the Democratic party, that's not necessarily a bad thing. We need more of that on both sides of the aisle. Unfortunately, the right has showed an unwillingness to compromise and a tendency to ride the base in spite of the alienation it creates for some of their more moderate party loyalists.

One of the most amazing things has happened -- an election came and went and the losers accepted losing without bitching, moaning and hiring every lawyer to contest every result -- sort of like the Dems always do. Gee, I wonder if this is a model for the future. I doubt that Allen will go down kicking and screaming once all of the votes are tallied.

Here is the group that lost the most last night -- the legions of lawyers hired by the democrats to try and use the courts to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat.

Dude, I'd love to tell you you're wrong, but for the last month I've had to deal with my wife saying, "They're going to steal the election. I don't trust these machines. They're going to steal the election" and quoting Rolling Stone magazine chapter and verse.

To me it's the same as listening to sports fans gripe about the officiating after getting ass pounded 50-0.

Most (if not nearly all) of them are volunteers. So, they won because they can go back to their jobs.
