Yeah, this has major issues. No Riviera or Torrey? Pebble in August is a no-go. The title sponsor of your (not)-season-long race for the championship gets noting in their hometown? This is a buzz cut, not a trim around the edges.

They need to get away from the playoffs. They won't, but start there.

And CBS/NBC have contracts for a certain number of tournaments so you'll have to rip those up.

My dream opening schedule would be the following…..Dump both Hawaii stops, AMEX and Pebble……Play Torrey and Phoenix…..play Riv late in year. Pebble is an iconic course no doubt. But the tournament itself is no good. Pro-Ams just don’t draw the best fields. The only reason the Tour had done this for so long is the AT&T dollars.
I love the Denver idea July 6-9, but are they gonna play it at Castle Pines? They would tear Cherry Hills to shreds. Then you dump the Fed Ex cup. Then you forbid NBC to broadcast any if it.

One of my nieces and her husband (he's a two handicap at Quail Hollow) are friends with Wagner and they can't say enough good things about him. I wonder it CBS, however, will cramp the slightly goofy style that's made him so good on Golf Channel.

Agree. Just widening the gap even more between CBS and NBC's golf coverage. Though I'm kind of meh on Colt Knost, I don't think he's as witty as he thinks he is.

He was so good on Live From with those recreated shots, wonder if Golf Channel will try to plug someone else in there.

Count me as another who likes Wagner’s bits on the Golf Channel. Hopefully he’ll be able to do similar stuff at CBS.

Got to spend a few minutes with Knost during the US Am and he definitely thinks he’s so good at whatever.

Asked him what he thought of course now vs when he won (same course) and he snarkily said “it’s not even close [to as hard as before].”

Hit some range balls ahead of time if you can, and practice a few putts. Slow and smooth swings are a good idea, which means taking probably a club or two more than you might think. Don't keep score, don't fret over any bad shots - savor the good ones.

Part of why I’m feeling OK about it is I got a putter a couple of years ago and I’ve been carpet putting ever since.

Enjoy the walk and hopefully the time with your SIL. The five hours in a beautiful land is quite a thing. (of course I enjoy 4 cigars a round too )

That's awesome. I wish my kids cared more about golf, though my oldest daughter is dating a golf fanatic so that's good -- either she takes up the game or I get rounds with the guy. Have played once with him so far and he's polite and fast, which is key. He's also way better than me, which I don't want to talk about.

I hadn't touched my clubs in three years when he got hired at Royal Manchester, which he then tells us included free golf. Memorial Day weekend we played nine and I scraped along for the first five holes until I fixed something and started to let loose with my 3 wood. My ritual after every round take the bucket I use to wash the car, fill it with a couple of inches of soapy water and then take a toothbrush to the club heads. It's why my TaylorMade SuperSteels look brand new despite getting them as a graduation gift in 2003.

As I'm scrubbing dirt and grass off the irons, he comes down to the garage and sheepishly asks "soooo, are you happy I dragged you back or do you want to kill me." I laughed. I do miss playing -- I used to get in at least nine once a week -- and having him playing will definitely get me out more.

If I get a pool cue in his hands and hooked on that I might really be dead.

I never thought anyone really retired from professional golf. You just played until you got injured too much or died. Anyway, good for him. Took that LIV money, stopped giving a damn and decided to relax in Chile for the final 50 years of his life.

My older son ditched golf when he was 15 and decided to run cross-country instead which was disappointing. However, I understood because golf is so technical and rules oriented.

He has started playing with me again when he comes home (because I've got a club membership now probably) and it's fantastic to spend that time with him on the course.

I hope your relationship and time with that guy continues because that would be awesome to have when/if he joins the family.

My buddy's daughter married a guy he did NOT like and the guy immediately said "hey when are you taking me to [buddy's] club (which is awesome)?" Buddy did NOT invite him and that his daughter unfortunately (or fortunately) divorced him after about 10 years of misery and he never played with him.
