My bad. Just found it humorous that "the idea" of bailing on the PGA and joining up with LIV Golf was considered actionable and defamatory as funny.

Really fun story developing in the fall series.

Michael Brennan leads the Bank of Utah Championship by two strokes. He's there on a sponsor exemption after winning the season-long points title on PGA Tour Americas. That got him full Korn Ferry status for next year. If he wins today, he gains full PGA Tour status through 2027 and bypasses Korn Ferry altogether.

The kid is a ****ing stud. He's 23, won eight times at Wake Forest and won three times in four starts during the Americas season. I have some personal stakes in this because I've known and covered him since he was 15, which was the age that he was both the low amateur in our State Open and the stroke-play medalist in the Virginia Amateur. Unfortunately for him, the best player in the field that year took a 10 on a hole in qualifying (got stuck in a tricky pot bunker and took five shots to get out) and ended up sneaking into match play as the 32 seed and eventually won the title. Michael came back and won the Am in 2019, right before heading to Wake.

Can't wait to watch today.

Does that get him a Masters invite, or do the Fall Tour stops not count?

I was incorrect. No Masters invite for Fall Series, I think that changed this year. It does get him full status, along with invited to the PGA and the RBC Heritage. But as long as he's in the top 50 in the world at the end of the year, he gets in. He moved just inside the top 50 with the win Sunday and now has access to the three remaining Fall Series events, so he'll likely play his way in.

The best story might have been Jordan Gumberg on the DP Tour. Managed to get his tour card for next season by making holing out with a wedge for an eagle on the 72nd hole in the final event of the DP season. Great moment for an American!!!

I mean, I'm not going to watch it. But they totally caved on this because their players are sick of having no chance to get into majors outside of exemptions. I doubt their points will be weighted the same way as PGA Tour or DP points will be.

Torre has been good at this stuff. And **** Phil. He was always a phony but at least pretended to be an OK dude. But now he’s just a ****ing asshole.

It's kind of a shame. Pro golf is such a slog. Four rounds are absolutely the best way to determine major champions but do we need it e-e-every other week from every tour? I never thought a LIV winner was less legitimate just because of 54 holes (beating the same 40 tomato cans makes them less legitimate) and all the jokes were tired. It's not something I'm losing sleep over, but it's just a little sad. Conformity doesn't always look good in golf.

I’ve seen a few stories that say the ‘27 Tour schedule might start after the Super Bowl and the number of events could be in the 20s. I guess the Tour needs to decide what it wants to be — a place where 100-125 guys can make a living as a Tour pro, or is it more interested in fewer events but with bigger names playing.
