But got to see the greatness of Nadal, weathered the storm, fought big time, even after a 0-15 start on serve facing match game he gets through. Me, too. I call her "Maria" more often because I know the reaction will be "Who?" if I pronounce it correctly.

Of course, I still screw up many other names (usually which syllable gets the stress) and am always corrected.

The guy who lost in the US Open quarterfinals (Čilić) is called"Chilich". I always forget the first "Chil . . ." and just say "Cil . . ."

Well she moved to America at the age of 3 and has lived here ever since. Apparently her father made a business decision to have her play as a Japanese national. In general (god bless them), Japanese people are not too proud of their women who have sex with black men. Haitian people, in general, are too poor to give a **** one way or another.

I found her basic humanity in that interview encouraging. The USA is unique in that for all our tribal politics we can still relate to each other as individuals.
