Running 2007 MLB Post-Season Thread

I figure I'd get this started early.

The four A.L. teams are baseball's four best; the quartet would make for an epic LCS and World Series.

Unfortunately, the National League has to be involved in these playoffs. So, congratulations to the Cubs for repping the N.L. in the Series.

Red Sox clinched the best record in the A.L. with their win tonight and the Indians' loss.

Red Sox-Angels: Probably the best playoff matchup. I picked the Red Sox to win it all, but it won't come without a scare. Sox in five.

Indians-Yankees: Love Grady Sizmore, C.C. Sabathia and Carmona. I don't think that trio can overcome the Yankees depth. Yanks in four.

Still considering my picks, but the Indians have a lot more than that trio. Sizemore isn't even their best hitter. Right now, that is Victor Martinez. More importantly, Travis Hafner has been closer to his old self of late.

The real question in that series is if Sabathia and Carmona can continue to be lights out against a lineup that good.

True, watching him in the playoffs will cost me 3 years off my life. I like their bullpen besides him.... for what that's worth.

Because I'm a curious sort, I looked up what the playoff teams (and as of this posting, Colorado is considered a playoff team so I added them into the mix) did against each other.

Yanks and Cleveland played six times. Yanks won all six games.
Red Sox took six-of-ten from the Angels.
Arizona won four-of-six against the Cubs.
Philly took four-of-seven from the Padres/Paders, while losing four-of-seven to the Rockies.

All that's left to decide is the N.L. Wild Card.

And they can't even get that right.
Prediction: Coors plus Colorado equals Rockies win. Pads had chance to do it Sunday and choked.

And no, I haven't set my postseason travel plans yet. I'm waiting on Monday. :)

Tomorrow is where Holliday distances himself from the others in the NL MVP discussion. If he comes up big, it will be a tough pick.

Webb is the only guy to beat the Rocks in two weeks. He did it in Denver. Peavy is better than Webb. ... I like the Pads. :)
