ROGER CLEMENS IS SITTING IN THE DEFENDANT'S CHAIR! OH MY GOODNESS! GOODNESS GRACIOUS! OF ALL THE AMAZING THINGS! ROGER CLEMENS IS ON TRIAL!

That a good enough prediction for ya?

Just run full-body photos of the cementhead in his later BoSox days, and another set from his days as a Yankee, and try not to laugh.

The most riveting point will come when Mrs. Clemens is subpoenaed to testify for the prosecution. Will she lie for Roger or tell the truth? There's always an angle somewhere to expose a lie because no one can keep it to themselves. You just have to find that witness. (At least that's the hope.)

McNamara won't be the most credible whiteness, but Andy Pettitte's testimony could destroy him.

Pettitte has no reason to lie. He was friends with, and an admirer of, Clemens.

There are some fanboy congressmen that are going to come out looking pretty bad in this.

I wonder if Tom Verducci is on the witness list.

Judge is saying he won't allow former teammates' testimony:

http://www.cbssports.com/#!/mlb/story/15295192/testimony-of-clemens-exteammates-on-drug-use-likely-out-in-trial

A day before the trial's start, U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton said at a hearing that statements from former Yankees Andy Pettite, Chuck Knoblauch and Mike Stanton that they received injections of performance-enhancing drugs from the trainer, Brian McNamee, could unfairly influence jurors.

But won't Pettitte testify that he & Clemens discussed Clemen's steroid use?

Prediction: he'll be convicted of lying and sentenced to community service.

But some of the testimony could be interesting, shed additional light on the whole sordid steroid mess.

But one thing sets Clemens’s trial apart from the other drug cases involving baseball stars that drew national attention: his former close friend and loyal teammate Andy Pettitte, a man Clemens considered his little brother, could be the witness who brings him down.

Pettitte, whose wholesome boy-next-door demeanor endeared him to Yankees fans as he pitched in seven World Series for the team, admitted in 2008 that he used human growth hormone in 2002 and 2004 to treat injuries. He is expected to give powerful testimony that could help the prosecution establish that Clemens also used the drug.

Among the former players on the prosecution’s witness list, he is the only one expected to testify that Clemens acknowledged using performance-enhancing substances. The trial begins Wednesday with jury selection.

My prediction: Roger is going to get a change of venue and the trial will be moved to Orlando where a jury will acquit him of all charges.

It will be like a Yankees Old Timers Game. Stanton, Canseco, Knoblauch, Pettitte. And, the Ghost of Joe DiMaggio will still insist on being called last.

And, it's no coincidence that none of those players was at the recent Yankees Old Timer's Day.

(Maybe Stanton was, but I don't think so.)
