I remember him mostly as the bad guy in Live and Let Die, with Roger Moore as James Bond. As I recall, Kotto’s character met his end by getting inflated until he exploded.

Yes, he’s one of a couple actors from that era whose names are forever memorable to me. Another is Thalmus Rasulala.

A lot of fun roles, but the memorable one for me was Agent Alonzo Mosely in Midnight Run. It may have been less because of the role than me being young enough to still pay attention to movies, and that movie becoming HBO filler. But he was distinctive and memorable.
