RIP William Hurt

I would say "Body Heat" and "The Big Chill" were much bigger roles than most of the movies mentioned in that tweet.

He was not afraid to play unlikeable characters.

Agreed. The Variety article appeared to highlight those parts for which he won Oscars, or at least nominations.

Also strong as Hank Paulson in the HBO version of "Too Big to Fail." RIP.

Also made a mark in the MCU as General turned Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross in the MCU. RIP.

I guess people complained "Too Big To Fail" made Paulson look way more "noble" than he really was. But Hurt was excellent.

Maybe the best actor of his generation.

85, 86, 87: Kiss of the Spider Woman, Children of a Lesser God, Broadcast News

Never forget A History of Violence.

Never remember Lost in Space.

Rest.

I can see a lot of news people - like Jeff Zucker say - watch the "tear scene" in Broadcast News and wonder why Holly Hunter freaked out.

Really wish they got around to making a Big Chill reunion - I believe Hurt is the first from that cast to die (not including Don Galloway). I'm thinking JoBeth Williams and perhaps Berenger would have gone "Trumper" - would have made for a lively weekend with them bitching about millennials, their confusing phones and sciatica.

Yes. It's gone now. I'll always be a No. 15 seed posting anything on a phone.

Among everything else, Hurt had a great voice and that excellent, measured delivery. He really owned his camera time.

Body Heat is just a great movie. Doesn’t get enough respect. Children of a Lesser God was the first movie I saw with my wife.
