The Grammys, plain and simple, need to scrap the first hour and do a tribute.

Shouldn't be that hard.

The Beach Boys are going to get screwed, me thinks.

Wondering why her death merits ABC breaking into prime time programming to announce this.

Yes, it's tragic, but WTF?

This post, of course, made me flip on ABC. They're showing a "Peanuts" special.
In memory of Whitney, I kept waiting for Linus to smack the **** out of Sally Brown.

They cut into the Peanuts special to announce her death.

That's going to scar someone for life. Tune in for "A Charlie Brown Valentine," find out a pop music icon is dead.

I was DVRing that for my daughter. Guess I'll delete it now.

It's a lock this is an OD, right?

It's an OD or a suicide. She's been a walking disaster for years. Here she is leaving a club last night:

I bring up the possibility of suicide based on the scar in the last photo.

What a waste. RIP. Very sad.

And out just in time for Valentine's Day ...

And THESE four are still alive?!?

For those of us of a certain age, Whitney Houston's music is a true soundtrack of our lives. Engagements. Slow dances. Marriages. Even at funerals. Her music reached across so many genres, even if she really has not had much of an impact since The Bodyguard soundtrack.

I turned on CNN for a while and after a few minutes of their coverage remembered why I don't watch CNN anymore.

You mean you don't care what Bret Michaels tweeted?

Yeah, the host on CNN is going to great lengths to make sure we realize he hangs out with famous people.

That's too bad. I'd say that's two out of four of the major pop phenomenons of the 1980s. Michael Jackson was first, Whitney now. I'd think the other deaths to make major news -- and I'm basing this on how you couldn't get away from them because they made music, videos, movies, TV shows, all kinds of other cameos -- will be the deaths of Madonna and Phil Collins.

From the CNN story, before one song or album of hers is mentioned:

News of her death elicited a flood of reaction on social media, from fans and fellow celebrities alike.

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!

Funny someone just mentioned Madonna. As soon as the news broke, I said to my wife, "It's amazing. The two pop stars of the '80s, and one is performing at the Super Bowl and the other dead the same week."

I'd put Prince way above Phil Collins on that list, by the way.

By "Phil Collins" you meant to type "Mariah Carey," right?
