While we are on the subject of trees, there is a really good infographic on large trees, but I haven't been able to find it today. I will poke around during breaks or tonight.

I can't remember if the infographic broke it down by state, or species, or what. All I recall was that I got really excited about looking at pictures of trees.

Sequoias are absolutely incredible to see in person. Even the photo posted on the first page doesn't do them justice.

Sequoias, however, do not.

The largest Sitka spruce in the lower 48 -- somewhere in Oregon -- is pretty damn impressive, too. It's huge, but not Sequoia huge.

Nah, it's Aptos. That tree got such a second-hand high it probably thought Montezuma was about to drive up with the world's largest bag of Doritos

Now I'm confused.
When these awful, awful things happen and the only way for me to cope is to engage in some kind of virtual lamentation and gnashing of teeth - am I supposed to blame the calendar year or Trump?
I don't want to get all tin-foil hat here, but is it possible that Trump AND time have been conspiring to kill all of our treasured celebrities and that they are now turning their sights on our trees?

There are a lot of people in my neck of the Bay who are saddened by the Cement Ship getting dismantled by the waves. It was one of those things you just took for granted when you went up to spend a day at the beach at Seacliff. Had someone as me if they would remove it and put it in a museum. Glad to see it will just succumb to the ocean and let nature take its course.

It sounds counterintuitive, but I suppose a cement ship is less dense than a steel ship and so would float better. Modern concrete and rebar would last lots longer though.
