A stalwart of the 1970s Pirates and may be best known for his 7-for-7 game. As a Pirates fan, it is amazing to see how much talent they had in the infield in the early 1970s and the various machinations used to get them all at bats.

Was also a started on the famed all-minority for the Pirates in 1971.

One of those guys who didn't really have much power or speed but always put the ball in play, a prototypical 1970s second baseman. Broke in at 20, was done by 30. And his 1977 season was tremendous, despite playing in only 116 games.

RIP Rennie.

Pre-TV, I had no idea he was a minority and I'm glad Buck & Shannon or whoever called games then didn't care either.

At the same time, the 1970s Pirates were ground zero for Black American baseball players. I should've known.
