Probably has more to do with them not wanting to eat card fees.

Not for tips.

I mean, I get that card processing fees suck, but literally every other business sucks it up because that’s how their customers prefer to pay.

And, my haircut and beard trim costs like $50. There’s more than enough profit there to cover the card fee.

I had a fast-food bill last week for $10.67, I gave the high school kid $11.02 and watched as he froze over the till. After what seemed like forever he scooped up 55 cents, handed that to me and said "I'm sure I'm giving you too much." I just nodded and walked away.

I'm gonna miss that when the rounding work is complete. Though there will still be people making a mess of change.

Actually he should have just given you $0.30 and disregarded the pennies. Merchants have started doing that.

I always tip in cash, so I try to always be carrying it.

I always carry some cash in case some store’s computer system crashes.

The local 7-Eleven started rounding change to the nickel a few weeks ago. Right now it’s the only place that I know that’s doing so, and they still have and accept pennies.
