Speaking of Oscar's family, a buddy of mine lived next door to the Gambles in Montgomery, Ala., in the mid-1990s. Oscar's son, Sean (who later played at Auburn), played on a youth league team that my buddy helped coach. At the end of the year, the entire team signed baseballs for each player to keep ... except Sean, who refused to sign, claiming his autograph "would be worth a lot of money one day." Sean was an OK player at Auburn, spent a couple of years in the Phillies' system and is now an MLB scout, I think.
