I saw him pitch when I was 7 in the 1971 World Series against the Pirates.

Dave McNally died of lung cancer in 2002, and Pat Dobson of leukemia in 2006. Now Cuellar from stomach cancer in 2010. Think Jim Palmer will start getting nervous in 2014?

Amazingly, Earl Weaver has outlived the former three, and might outlive Palmer.

The '69 O's rotation -- the year after they raised the mound -- was no slouch either. Cuellar was 23-11, McNally 20-7, Palmer 16-4 and Tom Phoebus 14-7. They threw 50 CGs.

EDIT: The oldest man on that staff, **** Hall, was 38 in 1969. He is 79 today and still alive.

Love those Baltimore pitching staffs from 1968-73. The 1969-71 Orioles staffs are my particular favorites, along with the 1954 Cleveland Indians.
