Love the avatar Han. Everyone thinks their local team tonsil is great, King was a legend. Raiders, Warriors and A's and you'll get arguments about which he did best.

King, with his signature "Holy Toledo!" was one of the first sportscasters I listened to, living for a couple of years in the deserted part of the west coast with no local teams, where we could get KNBR at night, long before cable TV came along and TV sports meant one "Game of the Week" on Saturday.

If you guys haven't yet, do check out the book released a couple of months ago about King by his long-time partner with the A's, Ken Korach. I'm sure its still on all the major book sites. Covers everything from broadcasting Bradley games (with Chick Hearn on a competing station) to Raiders and A's days. Even a whole chapter devoted to the "Mother's Day" game.
