One of the football voices of my childhood. :'(

And fans of AFC West teams pour one out in his honor.

Damn. Just saw an old interview with him, he told a great story about Conrad Dobler and how much he hated him as a player.

A Chargers-Raiders game, Fouts, Muncie, Enberg and Merlin.

And he was solid on Little House.

RIP to one of the voices of the AFC. Olsen had a unique way of presenting the game. He never came across as an ex NFL player.
He presented a much softer view. Football more as a chess match than physical contest.

I am completely miserable, San Diego.

I enjoyed his work much more than many of the seemingly more arrogant former players who made it to the booths of football Americana.
He understood the game and was alright in my book.
RIP, Merlin

RIP to a great football player and great announcer. If I were home, I'd pop in "The Drive" and "The Fumble" and listen to that great voice and great analysis.
He and Enberg were to the AFC what Summerall and Madden were to the NFC.

So sad, as a kid I knew him from Little House on the Prairie (Jonathan something, I think - Charles' best friend & sometimes business partner) before I knew he was a football player. He later got his own similar show I think called Father Murphy, but I never watched that one.

RIP

Remember when Mrs. Garvey - his wife on Little House - died in the fire at the school for the blind, along with Mary's baby? Sad. She was trying to break the window out while protecting the baby.

Yeah Little House episodes always scarred me as a child.
The like the one about the girl Albert liked who was raped.

Great player, great announcer. He represented himself and the game with class.

RIP.

Or the late one where Albert had a drug problem, that scene where Pa shakes him into realizing it with all the vomiting is still troubling. As a parent of young kids, I wish we still had TV like that though, I guess I could but the DVDs.

Who should we call for flower delivery?

I was curious how many posts we would get in before someone made reference to sending a FTD pick me up bouquet.

RIP
