r.i.p. to one of the original "chipmunks," i believe. that was the nicknamed pinned on a group of "new-age" n.y. baseball writers in the '60s who were teased by the vets for digging around for any little morsel of news/gossip they could uncover. the fact that several had overbites -- like maury, vic ziegel and phil pepe, among others --just added to the mental picture.
