He always seemed to own the Winter Olympics covers. I love reading the stories about how great photographers get great photos. The answer is almost always preparation. And you then realize that for every amazing photo, there were probably thousands of hours spent prepping for photos that never really clicked. He and Walter Iooss seemed to trade SI covers in the 70s and 80s.
