Very sorry. RIP. Part of an all-time great band, if not the transcendent musician his brother was.

Read his biography a few years back. Despite all the damage he did to himself, he was surprisingly thoughtful and self-aware. Especially when it came to mistakes re: wives and kids.

Losing a big brother who was the rare talent you said but also the person he looked up to so early in the band's career, it's a testament to Gregg that he was able to lead the band to the heights and legendary status it enjoyed.

Saw the Allmans twice, including once at the Beacon. RIP to one of the greatest blues singers who ever lived

Just the other day I was thinking how 2017 wasnt knocking off people like 2016 did. ****, allman and Bunning in one day.

One of my all-time favorites. Saw the ABB a half dozen or so times and Gregg twice on solo tours. Hate that I won't get to do that one more time, but I'm grateful for the music he gave us.

I don't know how long he and Cher were married, but that was a fascinating duo. Lived a hell of a life.

I have the book QYFW mentioned, may need to move it up my stack. My college roommate turned me onto the Allman Brothers. And I'm kicking myself for missing the shows at The Beacon

The first song that I remember hearing on college radio was the ABB playing "Revival". I was fifteen. I first saw them in 1974. They have been part of the soundtrack of my life for three quarters of it.

RIP, Gregg. I miss you already.

Saw the ABB @ Richmond Coliseum, winter or spring, 1973. Some of us on our post-HS baseball team always listened to "Jessica" as our psych-up music. ONe of the top 5 all-time American bands, for sure.
