Crazy life during and after football. Golden was his actual middle name. Mormon kid who went to BYU but flunked out. Finished at Hawaii before tearing up his knee. Divorced three times. Battled drug addiction. Arrested for forgery. Wound up with dementia and lived with his two sons and a grandson named Jett.
RIP. Find some peace, Golden.

I have to admit there were more than a few touchdown passes thrown between "Condredge Holloway" and "Golden Richards" in the backyard of my Green Hills home as a kid.

Lots of great names for receivers back then. Lance Rentzel. Lance Alworth. Fair Hooker. Haven Moses. Marlin Briscoe. Elbert Dubenion. George Sauer Jr. And the alliteration twins, Gary "The Ghost" Garrison and Warren Wells.

RIP. I remember reading a terrific profile of him in a BASW. Never would have guessed until I Googled it that it was from 1996. Sheesh. A remarkable piece that was the author's grad school thesis.
