Doug Harvey, Hall of Fame Umpire Whom Players Called God, Dies at 87

Best of the best for a long time.

I remember he was the home plate umpire in Game 4 of the 1980 NLCS (probably the best LCS ever played) and it took him and the other umpires close to 20 minutes to decide if the Vern Ruhle had trapped the hall on a comebacker, ultimately conferring with the NL president, Chub Feeney, in the stands.
