Two months ago, the Washington Post published this feature on the return of Silver Jews frontman David Berman from a long hiatus. His new project was called Purple Mountains.

Now news that he killed himself today. He was supposed to go on tour on Saturday. It's not the biggest shock, given his well-publicized struggles, but still... ****.
