We were in Denver at the same time. Nice man.

The hits keep coming. Three Super Bowls in four years and couldn't ever get over the hump. The Drive. The Fumble. Elway working his wizardry to make the Broncos relevant and so much fun after Bowlen bought the team in the mid-1980s.

Had been battling dementia.

A giant with the Broncos and rightly in their Ring of Fame.

I remember Reeves with the Giants, in that transition phase between the glory of the 80s (Simms, LT, Bart Oates) and the 90s (Jessie Armstead, Michael Strahan).

Too bad he couldn’t get over that SB hump.

Was he the last coach who wore a shirt and tie? That trend was big back in the day, obviously and had started to fall out of favor by the 90s.

Jerry Kramer is still alive, I think. I started following Green Bay after finding his book when I was a kid. But most of the others from that game are gone.

Damn. When I think of the Broncos from my childhood, it’s Elway and Dan Reeves. Great man who deserved to get a Super Bowl with those 80s Broncos teams. RIP

Jerry Kramer is still alive, I think. I started following Green Bay after finding his book when I was a kid. But most of the others from that game are gone.

Looking through Pro-Football Refernece, Boyd Dowler, Lance Rentzel, Don Perkins, Donny Anderson, Chuck Mercein, Carroll Dale and Ben Wilson are among the skill position guys still alive. I don’t feel like looking through the linemen and defense.

I don’t know why but I had some Mandela effect going on where I thought Dan Reeves was already dead. Maybe because Marty Schottenheimer and Jim Fassel died or the fact that it seemed like Reeves had health issues decades ago, but my brain thought he had already passed.

I went to SB XXIII and on the flight back, my mom opened the overhead compartment — forgetting that some items may have shifted during flight — and her bag landed on Chuck Knox’s head. And he wasn’t a real good sport about it.

I imagine Reeves was one of the last NFL coaches to still wear "civvies" on the sidelines. Most coaches of his era wore a team sweater or polo on the sideline before the league mandate kicked in with the Reebok deal.

Only reason he’s not in Hall is no ring

There are eight coaches to reach at least 4 Super Bowls. Only two aren’t in are Belichick, who of course will be, and Reaves.

was 7th in wins when he retired, is now 10th.

i assume he ends up being the coaching finalist next year
