The league has mandated coaches wear team apparel for some time. A coach a few years ago had to get permission to wear a suit and tie on the sidelines.
It was Mike Nolan of the 49ers. I remember hearing that and thinking, "Seriously, someone has to get permission to dress formally on the sideline?"
