Morrison is so ridiculously overrated it's not even funny.
Stretching my list to 5 or 10, I wouldn't have any of those other three you listed.
Off the top of my head (caveat: limited to my initial mention of hard-rock singers), I'd add Daltry, Hetfield, Layne Staley, Bruce Dickinson, Bon Scott...
Only hard rock vocalists ... hmm ...
I'd definitely have Axl on there. I thought he was fine live last summer when I saw them. Eddie Vedder has been mentioned, right? Scott Weiland?
Talking about rock vocalists overall, I'd have Rod Stewart, Bono, Mick Jagger, probably McCartney over Lennon. ****, Steve Perry, right? Ronnie Van Zant. Roy Orbison. Chris Robinson. There are guys that are distinctive like Bowie, Elton John, Dylan, Petty, Springsteen, and Cobain, though I'm not sure I'd call any of them great vocalists.
I don't know how much we're stretching the genre here, but Willie, Waylon, Merle Haggard, and Dwight Yoakam make my list. Dolly and Loretta Lynn if this is co-ed.
Doesn't even seem fair to let in the Motown crew ...
