Not to get off-topic but growing up there were multiple TV movies that played very important roles in my foundation - Roots, Miss Jane Pittman, Brian's Song, Skokie, a few of the Hallmark Hall of Fame movies (geez, Bill with Mickey Rooney and A Long Way Home with Timothy Hutton) and The Day After and Special Report (below - don't start watching if you don't have two hours to kill right now, it's that good). The good thing is a lot of them are on YouTube, but I do wonder if our society might be better served if such movies were still made today for broadcast - rather than HBO or Netflix. Something about everyone seeing the same thing and sharing the experience.
