During my childhood years growing up in Winnipeg, I didn’t realize it was such a ****hole, when you played baseball in the summer you were Mickey Mantle and in the winter on the rink or playing street hockey you were Bobby Hull.
Actually, in their separate sports arenas they were v similar; muscular blonde bombers who drew fans to TV sets and were undisputed icons in their respective cities. Hull was described as the first modern hockey player and realistically Mantle was probably the same. Both were child prodigies from small towns and blue collar families. Both had drinking problems.
Both were beloved by millions of fans.
