Cleveland native, become a That Guy after moving to NYC and starting an acting career at 36.

He is a true definition of a That Guy. I don't how many people would know his name but if showed his picture they'd throw out any number of things he was in. The first things I thought of were Night at the Museum, Demolition Man and this:

Something about great character actors - they just "pop" from the screen no matter how small the role. Cobbs was very much the definition.

So, so many one-offs or recurring appearances by great character actors in that series. Ty Burrell (Phil Dunphy) even has a role as some kind of lawyer or functionary in one of the middle seasons.
