Russia has agreed to shut down Allofmp3.com and other music sites based in that country that the U.S. government says are offering downloads illegally.

Looks like 14 to 18 cents a single, $1.40 to $2 for albums.

Shotty's right. It was like $2.13 per album, or like $0.15 per song. Insanely cheap -- and very easy.

Got at least a dozen CDs off that site in the last three months, since someone clued me in on it. RIP indeed.

I think there's still one or two sites that offer free downloads. I usually only download from itunes, but I seem to remember the last time we had a thread on this that there was one based in the US. Just can't remember the name, time to do a search.

didn't they bust up limewire like 6 months ago?

Old news, shottie. The Bearshare people paid big money to the RIAA to settle and Napsterized several months ago.
