NY Times reports Fox is picking up the pilot in which Rashida Jones is a cast member. I'd think that would mean she won't be back on The Office next season ...

Someone brought this up on the Office thread: This makes it probable that she'll get the corporate job over Michael and Jim. Hope they come up with some more twists on top of that.

I remain the only one in the world hoping that Jim stays with Karen. It's a losing battle I know.

For plot reasons or do you really prefer her over Pam?

Both actually, but more that I prefer her over Pam than anything else. I just don't want another Sam and Diane.

Because you didn't like Sam and Diane's relationship or because you'd hate to see The Office steal a concept from a successful show?

Jim and Pam are not hard-headed like Sam and Diane. They'd probably take two hours just to decide where to go to dinner ... or they would go to the same place every night.

I think in both instances the tension and "what if..." of each is pretty compelling. And you're right, since Jim and Pam aren't as hard-headed, they'll have to come up with new ways to make the relationship interesting. I'm sure they will, but I like the tension better.

Besides, Karen is cooler. And hotter.

Jenna Fischer is way hotter. Period.

Rashida Jones is very cute. Not Jenna Fischer.

"You have an exotic look. Was your father in the Army?"

Jay, didn't he say something like "Was your father in Vietnam?" in there somewhere? God that was humorous.

I like Rashida, although I'm not familiar with her other than The Office.
Googled her, and I had no idea she was both Jewish and Quincy Jones' daughter.. I never would have guessed that.

She was also the secretary in Boston Public.

That's right. I forgot about that. She was a bit of an ice queen in that show, wasn't she?

I was actually thinking about that show lately. Great first season, but you knew they shot their wad by the first season finale with the Columbine-like stuff ... could have been really good had they spread it out a bit ...

Was it near the end of the first or second season when the Nicky Katt character got stabbed in the classroom? He somehow lived, then got written out about two episodes into the next season. If you're going to revive the guy just to write him out, then why not kill the character?

That killed the show right there. Well, that and its overly dramatic nature. It burned out real fast. Only so many whacked out storylines you could come up with before enough was enough.

Nicky Katt and his character was the reason I watched the show. The vice principal (guy from Silence of Lambs) was a good asshole.

You're right, I don't think the first season was even over yet when it just emptied its cartridge.

I'm pretty sure Katt was stabbed at the end of the second season. I remember there were some decent episodes about the effect of 9/11 on the kids in season two.

that show was awful after a while though. Unwatchable.

Interesting side note: Tupac once railed against Quincy Jones' interracial family, leading Rashida to verbally shred him. They later became good friend, Tupac was engaged (maybe married) to Rashida's sister, Kidada, and Quincy wrote the foreword for a book about 'Pac.

And we can't forget Lipschultz ....
