R.I.P. Sid Catlett

As a sophomore Catlett led DeMatha to victory over Lew Alcindor's Power Memorial high team in what's labeled as greatest high school game ever played.

He was 69. Suffered a stroke back in June.

Played at Notre Dame. Austin Carr, Collis Jones, Sid Catlett, Jack Meehan and Doug Gemmel (not sure on spelling or if Gemmel started, didn't check). I was 8 or 9 and my dad, an ND grad that played hoops for 2 years, renovated our attic into a playroom and a bedroom. He and I would go up there to listen to ND games on a transistor radio while I played GIJoe. Eventually I would always lay in the bed with him. He died in '91 and those nights are amazing memories for me.
