Question for the cat owners

Why wife's cat is 18. It doesn't do well with long separation. It's got a routine, and by Gawd, you'd better follow it or there'll be a loud meowing session at 4 a.m.

My 17-year-old just died last week. Woke up and she was lying stiff in the bathroom. It was a very tranquil ending, the one I'd hoped for all along.

Thank you. Had her cremated and she's on the dinner table, right where she was every morning. There was no evidence of suffering during the very brief illness or I'd have had her put down. I wanted her to die in the house, before the weekend so we wouldn't have to pack the cat in ice (I actually made those preparations).

We got that cat when I was barely out of high school. It's strange saying goodbye to an animal who's been around for half your life.

Question for the parents: How much work is a child? Wife and I are thinking about it. We've seen the little ones before and they seem cute. Would it be irresponsible to get one?
