When you put it that way, I agree. Every music critic and fan is wrong whenever I disagree with them.

i'm giving my POV, ****. i don't think i ever attempted to say it was anything more or less than that. but thanks for playing the role of asshole so well.
and if you think every critic and fan was impressed with jackson back in the 80s, you're ****ing high. death was rather kind to the king of lyrical ineptness.

and yes, jackson was much like the hannah montana of the '80s. if you had the mindset of being a screaming little 15-year-old girl who wanted to scream your ****ing head off at the sight of jackson wearing a single glove while moon walking, then yeah, he was huge with that crowd. the rest of us were listening to the scorpions, ozzie, etc.

All I know is that he could have retired after "I'll Be There" and still be remembered as one of the all-time greats. He hadn't reached his 12th birthday when he recorded it. Damn.

When Thriller came out? In 1982?

I hadn't been conceived yet.

Ebony and Ivory will always get a pass from me because of the awesome SNL skit featuring Joe Piscopo and Eddie Murphy.

Looks like Versatile was making more of a weight observation, Tom.

Ebony & Ivory also sucked HARD. :)

hahaha. well, then, ****.
Anything McCartney touched in those days pretty much blew. The only duet worse than E&I was Say, Say, Say.

****... just remembered another one worse: The Girl is Mine.

She either has the mumps or is storing acorns in her cheeks for the winter.

I couldn't agree more. Painful stuff.

Dana Carvey does a great McCartney. Blubbering all the way.

I'm a pretty unabashed Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney fan. That said, I also love Stevie Wonder but don't like "Ebony and Ivory."

It's funny, but I can't handle much McCartney anymore without seeing Dana Carvey shredding him. I still like some of the Wings stuff, though.

I get as much enjoyment from Dana Carvey outside of Wayne's World as Tom Petty gets out of Michael Jackson.

And me, too. So Carvey doing McCartney really hurts to watch.
