Anybody care? I'm usually glued to the TV during stuff like this but for some reason I could care less this time around. Maybe it was all the hype over the FedEx Cup but I haven't watched more than about two minutes of the two Tour events since the Tour Championship.

I like watching match-play, but I think the four-day format the President's Cup uses it too long.

Three days, with players getting switched in and out as in the Ryder Cup, I think works better, especially when you have quite a few guys going 36 holes for the first two days.

All's I know is it preventing me from watching four Law and Order reruns per day and I have the bends now.

That was outstanding. Like the talking heads said, that only happens to Woody.

Woody Austin just fell into a lake. Not that I'm watching.

Missed it watching last night's Survivor. But it might not be long before they produce a DVD of "Woody's Greatest Hits."

Steve Stricker, from the fairway behind Austin, said from his vantage point, he couldn't tell what happened. But he said he knew it "could only be Woody."

Presidents Cup doesn't take itself as seriously as Ryder Cup does now, which is nice.
Love the shots of Player and Nicklaus making the pairings.

And any match play kicks ass over stroke play. Whole different game.

Any net video of Woody falling?
I want to show my wife.
Never mind.

Let me ask this: When did Nicklaus become such a "everyone is a winner!" guy? The first day, he tells Mickelson to concede a par put from Vijay because he doesn't want to embarass Vijay. So the internationals get a half point. Obviously, with the Americans now putting up a huge lead, it's probably irrelevant, but what if the Americans choked and it came down to that half point? Isn't the nature of gentlemanly competition that you want to beat the other guy, then shake his hand afterward?

I know he feels like the Ryder Cup has become too intense and all, but does that mean the President's Cup captain should be conceding match-deciding four footers on the first day?

I know, I know, Tony Jacklin's conceded two-footer in the 1969 Ryder Cup. But still.

I missed the Nicklaus-Mickleson-Vijay thing. But if I'm Mickelson, I don't do it. I say **** Vijay for being such a prick in the past. If Jack doesn't like it, that's too damn bad.

The media in Canada are making a huge deal about Mike Weir defeating Tiger Woods and what is means for golf in Canada.

Personally, while it may be a big achievement, Weir needs to win more PGA tournaments and get back to the form he was in when he won the Masters. 2004 is the last time he won anything.

I really hope this "personal victory" for Weir is the confidence booster he needs to win titles or have better placements in tournaments.

I'm sorry. I was so enthralled by the FedEx Cup that I have had to take a break from golf for fear of overstimulating myself.
Seriously, though, I'm a fan of the Ryder Cup, but I just can't seem to get myself jazzed up for the Presidents Cup. For me, it was enough to catch the highlights on ESPN. But I didn't spend any time watching the actual coverage.

The Weir/Woods match was pretty damn good.

Weir was up 3 after nine and then Tiger won four holes in a row.

On the 17th, Weir dropped a ten footer to even everything up.

Woods ****ed up his t-shot on 18, missed his chip in for par and conceded.

Since the Americans had pretty much wrapped this thing up before they even started Sunday, the Weir/Wood story was the only story left.

Yikes. Weir beat Tiger in a glorified exhibition. If that gives golf in Canada a huge boost, golf in Canada must be dead. On a side note, I always have to laugh when I'm in Canada and I check out the scores in the paper and they always put the one or two Canadians in the field in bold type.

Golf in Canada is far from dead. Per capita, there are more golfers here than in the U.S.

I didn't realise the President's Cup was a glorified exhibtion. I'm sure the players weren't treating it that way.

JR, the thing is there are not as many Canadian players on the PGA tour.

Glorified exhibition...wowza! I did not think this is what the President's Cup is considered.

Unfortunately, the US golfers do not take the President's Cup as seriously as they take the Ryder Cup.

That tie from a couple of years ago? Would never have happened in the Ryder.

Tiger: 61 victories, 12 majors.
Weir: 7 victories, 1 major.

I don't think Tiger is losing much sleep over this.
