This is an IDEA award winner from the Industrial Designers Society of America. I can't get over the name of the new-fangled athletic cup: The Nutty Buddy.

Have fun ...

...provides never-before-seen levels of comfort while being able to withstand a baseball traveling at more than 100 mph.

OUCH!

And it doesn't look big enough to protect everyone.

Two things:

1. I always thought the shape of a "cup" was wrong. (Though this thing looks like a pretzel dish.)

2. Who was the lucky ******* who got to test a pitch in the nads at 100 mph?

Isn't a Nutty Buddy a prepackaged ice cream cone with chocolate and nuts?
It's similar to a Drum Stick.

Love the Nutty Buddy. My favorite ice cream treat since I was a kid.

My baby brother was heavily responsible for getting this product developed and marketed. A bronze award winner in the same competition.

Please allow me a moment to brag....

I love them, too.
It must be a regional thing, because I never saw Drum Sticks when I was a kid. It was always Nutty Buddies.

It needs a better name... like Ball Blocker, Nad Net, Bean Bag cover... something.

Don't chazp me here. AP moved a story on this today: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gVGhQR-t-3ArmAmCyzuiMERmO_hgD8TE4V400.

The YouTube video has to be seen to be believed. It's a combination of Tom Emanski and Super Troopers, complete with a testimonial from ... Chris Friggin' Sabo! :D

I think Mark Littell taking a fastball in the nads from an Iron Mike is testimonial enough...

Vaguely resembles Mark Littell. Watch the video.

Video is nuts, pun intended. Glad to see Chris Sabo on there as well. I'm surprised he didn't volunteer to take a shot without the cup ...

Yeah, because Sabo provided a lot of insight: "I had by cup shattered by Jack Clark in '88 on a one-hopper, and it didn't feel too good."

He should go back to corking bats.

Not sure how everyone else let this one pass, but was your brother the one that tested it against the 100 mph baseball?

Watched the video. Mark Littell is nuts. Chris Sabo is, uh, well, maybe he took too many balls to the head rather than his cup (test-uh-clees?), and the Nutty Buddy is ... hilarious and effective.

Like I said, suprised he didn't volunteer to take one without the cup.

Just remember, kids: Even the Nutty Buddy can't protect your boys from an errant glob of Icy Hot meant for the thigh.

Oh, the burning.
