Re: Should Random Thoughts come to an end?

If you don't like it, leave it.

If that thread becomes locked, I'm leaving the board.

;)

(now that I've got your attention ... seriously... come on, this is a message board. why rule with a heavy hand?)

Leave it up, Dangerator. It's a good thing. [/Martha Stewart]

While I CAN see some people's beef with it, it isn't as though anyone is deliberately propping it onto the front page.

People seem to like it and I ignore it just fine 90 percent of the time.

Leave it alone.

I'm not talking about ruling with a heavy hand. There are people who posted on that thread and said they think it's time for it to go away.

I wanted to see how many others feel that way.

We saw the posts, and we don't agree with the posters who said it. We're told all the time in PMs that the posters who said it are ruining the board and we agree.

I voted for, "Yes. Lock it. It's done. Too much like a chatroom." Sums up my feelings on it.

However, had I looked a little closer at the options, I would have gone with, "Yes. Lock it and start a new one."

Because I think both ring true for me with respect to that thread.

Then I'll claim it as my vote.

My explanation: ****abuncha boots and his self-righteous assholery.

And, I voted "other" because I was under the impression that the Charlie Brown thread was locked because it was consuming massive amounts of bandwidth. If RT is doing the same, I would say lock it and go with "RT — The Trequel."

Point of Order, Mr. Chairman:

How many of Doc's multiple usernames does he get to vote with? :D

And I, for one, don't think everyone else is ruining the board.

You're doing a bang-up job of that all by yourself! ;)

Tho I have posted on it, it has probably run its course. It is interesting that there is an intersection of people for the thread who were in favor of the boots thread dying. Then again, if you kill the thread, I would hate to have boots think he won.

I guess, given that there are people who are hellbent to chat on here no matter what, the best solution is to have a fresh start with a new random thoughts thread

Yes - its time for thread to go. It has attracted a seedy element to SportsJournalists.com. On any given day that thread is filled with pimps, ho's and convicts.

Getting rid of it would have the same positive effect that getting rid of the squeegee people had on New York City. You have to start somewhere.
