Glancing through an entertainment section, I saw that there's at least one place in my city of residence that offers an Open Mic Night each night of the week.

Curious to know what SportsJournalists.com members would do if they wanted to do something (5 minute time limit on stage) ...

Me? I'd read a few verses from a favorite book or lyrics from a special song (maybe even accompany it via an acoustic guitar)

And you? ...

I'd boo you ... or fall asleep. I kid, I kid. I'd think of some jokes and tell them.

I'm actually planning to try an open mic night for stand up comedy. I'm not interested in making it a career or anything. Just want to gain a little life experience, see what it feels like and be able to say I did it.

I routinely do open mics with poetry and they are always successful. People are always receptive.

Singing is not new for me. But last week I did my first stand up comedy routine in a concert. I did a 5 minute bit about hockey that killed.

A life long ambition finally realized.
