Last night, I watched a show on the National Geographic Channel called "On Board Air Force One" that was pretty interesting. It was recently updated as it showed President Obama's first trip.

There were some neat things I learned, like I didn't know on Sept. 11 that once the FAA got all the planes down, AFO was the only plane in the sky and that it had clearance to go whereever it wanted and didn't have to tell anyone. Also, they realized that the plane did not have the capability for the Preisident to address the nation via television, which is why it landed in Omaha, he spoke, then headed back to Washington. I would imagine that this has been rectified.

The next showings of it are Feb. 1 at 1 PM and Feb. 4 at 4 PM.

There is also an "On Board Marine One" program.

Just thought I'd share in case anyone was interested.

I like that even against advice from others when they got to Wichita, President Bush said "Let's go home." Also AFO way hauling ass to Washington. I can't believe it but they said it was nearly going super sonic. The fighter jet escorts had to ask AFO to slow down because they were burning all their fuel trying to keep up.

Also the spiral in AFO used to land in Iraq was pretty cool.

I remember hearing that they just sorta drove around on 9/11 because it was the safest place. Surrounded by fighter pilots.

If you are ever near Wright Patterson AFB, go to the museum. They have all the planes that have served as Air Force one, you can go inside them all.

Actually, Air Force One landed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, near Shreveport, La., and it's from there Bush spoke to the nation. Then the plane flew to Omaha before finishing its day of travel in Washington.

Wish I'd seen that program. Sounds like some interesting stuff. I'll try to catch it next time.

My understanding is that's how all planes land in Iraq in order to avoid enemy fire. It's still a pretty darn near thing though.
