No snow, thank goodness.

And no ice.

Just lots of wind and rain over the next day or two forecast for the Ohio Valley area.

... HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM EST /6 AM CST/ TO 10 PM EST /9 PM CST/ WEDNESDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOUISVILLE HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM EST /6 AM CST/ TO 10 PM EST /9 PM CST/ WEDNESDAY. THE HIGH WIND WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS ARE FORECAST TO STRENGTHEN LATE TONIGHT ACROSS SOUTHERN INDIANA AND CENTRAL KENTUCKY. BY SUNRISE WEDNESDAY... WINDS ACROSS THE AREA WILL INCREASE TO SUSTAINED SPEEDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH A FEW GUSTS TO 45 MPH. BY LATE MORNING WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO SUSTAINED SPEEDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 55 MPH.

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE REGION DURING THE DAY BRINGING A LINE OF STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS TO THE AREA. WIND GUSTS WITHIN THIS LINE OF STORMS COULD EXCEED 60 MPH. WINDS BEHIND THIS COLD FRONT WILL REMAIN QUITE GUSTY AS WELL WITH WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH AND GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH BEING POSSIBLE THROUGH THE EARLY PART OF WEDNESDAY EVENING.

THIS HIGH WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT DUE TO HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS THAT MAY RESULT FROM THE EXPECTED STRONG WINDS. THE RECENT ICE STORM HAS LEFT MANY TREES IN A WEAKENED STATE WITH MANY LARGE... LOOSE HANGING BRANCHES. THESE STRONG WINDS MAY RESULT IN NEW POWER OUTAGES FOR SOME AREAS AND MAY RESULT IN MINOR PROPERTY DAMAGE. GIVEN THE RAINS AND SOFT GROUND CONDITIONS... THESE WINDS MAY BE STRONG ENOUGH TO BLOW DOWN WHOLE TREES.
More Information

... VERY STRONG WINDS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT...

.A STRONG AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE NORTHEAST THROUGH ILLINOIS AND INDIANA DURING THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY. THIS WILL COMBINE WITH AN AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE EASTERN UNITED STATES TO CREATE VERY STRONG SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS DURING THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY AND INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

Sounds fun, considering we're coming off the ice storm of the century.

And I believe there are some parts of the state that are still without power, some two weeks after the ice storm hit.

Yeah I drove through some of that **** tonight.

**** you and your spray, 18-wheelers.

:cough: Kansas on a good day :cough:

At least we shouldn't get what hit Edmond, Okla. Good lord. It's February. We shouldn't be dodging tornadoes yet.

Highs in the 60s next week, though.

Supposed to be in the lower 50's here today. That's a ****ing heat wave here in NH. Highs in the mid to upper 30's all week, though. No snow in the forcast...Yet. ;D

WOW!! That's so original. You could have called me Dorothy too. Because I haven't heard that one about 1.5 million times since I moved here either.

I miss my nice brick house. The walls there didn't creak when up against 40 mph gales.

I'm just trying to figure out what to do if something actually happens with this storm. After seeing what it did to Lone Oak, Okla. (Not to mention seeing all the carnage of the tornadoes while I was home at Christmas) this thing ain't ****ing around. I'm on the second floor of a 2-story building and I have no idea where the tornado shelters (if there are any) in this town.

Be prepared for some of that wenders and KY. I am hearing as the temps warm up, you could see more tornadic activity.

Well, this is about the time when tornadic activity builds up as the cold air masses from Canada clash with the warm air coming in from Mexico and southern U.S. [/formermeteorologymajorkid]

I went home sick yesterday and ended up writing from home, while watching CNN and calling everyone I could in Oklahoma. I knew as soon as I went home sick that a disaster would hit somewhere in the United States. I actually had my money on the volcano in Alaska erupting, though.

Covering these unpredictable disasters sucks sometimes. I always feel bad for the people involved.

Considering inexplicable and extreme weather patterns have happened throughout history ... you're right: they aren't a sign of global warming.
