Meredith Viera is getting killed right now for wearing white pants recently on the Today Show.

I guess the white shoes/pants/skirts rule still applies?

Frank?

I'd be mad too if Meredith Viera was wearing pants in my presence.

Yeah, I said it. MILF to the extreme.
****ty presence on the show (bot CBS' Evening News and the Today show have taken big steps backward).

But, I'm with you ... s-aaaaaaaa-mokin!

No white before Victoria Day/Memorial Day. No white after Labour Day.

Rules were meant to be broken. No one tells me what I can and can't wear. Flip flops to work this week, even if I'm wearing pants.

Dumb rule that should be broken, but you have to do it right. I wear white jeans any time....but only with a dark sweater, or leather or suede blazer. But this only works for jeans.

White shoes, never, regardless of season. You almost always look like you're on your way to bingo.

And completely unthinkable for men.

She made a big deal yesterday about "it's okay to wear white on the first day of Spring" but Matt Lauer, good Palm Beacher that he is, called her on it.

He knows better -- white only between Memorial and Labor day.

and always make sure the belt matches the shoes...

Bucks? Unthinkable? Perish the thought!

Easiest style guideline in the world, and I'd say 80 percent of the men in our business screw it up daily. It's embarrassing!

She got vpl?

See, this is the key. Not too tight, not too sheer, and you CAN'T have vpl.

Friend of mine sent me a picture of her St. Patrick's Day celebrations. In the picture was my friend and three other girls -- ALL 4 of them wearing white slacks and green tops.

Sidenote: I read or heard recently that CBS Evening News' ratings are worse with Katie Couric than they were when Bob Schieffer was "filling in" on the show.

Yeah, white bucks are traditional during summer. The phrase "white-shoe law firm" refers to WASPY, elitist, Ivy League-educated corporate lawyers who are unlikely to frequent a bingo hall. White bucks, seersucker suits, bow ties, that kind of look.

I don't think I could pull off wearing white bucks. I have my eyes on these off-white (light stone) ones:

I already have a pair of the Lands End dirty bucks (tan). They are nice for the money.

Answer to the question, yes, the "rule" is that except for shirts, white is for Memorial Day through Labor Day. Some people also believe this applies to stone khakis, but I break that "rule" because A.) I love stone khakis and B.) 95 percent of the people don't know the "rules" anyway.

I don't have any white trousers. I have some white shorts that I wear in the summer when it's warm enough to sit on the beach but the water is still too cold.

Don't forget the bowler hat.

Never mind proper dressing, I'd be more than happy if everyone learned the right way to hold their fork.

Why does anyone give two ****s about these stupid, so-called rules?

**** you fashion police.
