I know politicians are full of ****.

What I'd like to point out is that folks like bigpern are also full of ****, unless they swear of the Democrat party until folks like Pryor and Manchin are drummed out.

It's not so brave to boycott a product you don't use, while still voting for a party that includes Pryor and Manchin.

Wrong. If gay rights supporters don't support the Democratic Party, even if it isn't perfect, they will by default helping the Republican Party, which has an actively anti-gay agenda. So, no, I'm not full of **** by supporting that Party that has a much stronger record on gay rights and pretending otherwise is asinine.

And since I live in neither Arkansas nor West Virginia, I have no say in whether Pryor or Manchin represent those states.

It's not deflection, it's fact. In the current political climate, you can support Republicans, Democrats or basically throw your vote away. So when I'm given a choice between the party that actively tries to deny gays their civil rights and the party that largely - if imperfectly - supports gay rights, I'm going to vote for the one that supports my position.

But, he will vote for a party in which Park Pryor and Joe Manchin are Senators in good standing, and will receive party support in their re-election bids.

Therefore, we can conclude that Pern doesn't really believe the issues to be equivalent.

OK. So Mark Pryor and Joe Manchin hold views that are the equivalent of saying women shouldn't be allowed to vote, and blacks can't own property. Is that right?

This is a straw man. You have no idea whether Perm would or would not support a hypothetical political party that, for whatever reason, supported as a member in good standing someone who held those positions. It's unlikely, I concede. But you have no idea how that would play out, a fact which you necessarily toss away in order to complete your syllogism.

What consequences will the party face for accepting members who hold this view?

If you don't hold them accountable, then what's the point? How strongly do you or Pern hold your beliefs?

We all chose to make the CEO of Mozilla our line in the sand?

Pretty easy to avoid using a ****ing web browser with 15% market share, when their are three other browsers just as good, or better -- and they are all free.

Let's see some action that requires tough choices. Let's see some real sacrifice.

Best I can tell, the biggest step anyone is willing to take is to avoid a certain chicken sandwich. Clearly, this is a huge issue of conscience for Pern, and others like him.
