Right now, "One Shining Moment" is just that -- 5 seconds of Scottie Reynolds.Oz said:joe king said:Oz said:zagoshe said:There is no need to tweak this formula -- the last two years, the best teams have just played like it when it counts, that isn't a bad thing. And there will be cinderella runs in the future, the mid-majors have just gone through a bit of a down period the past two years (well, ****, even though the Final Four was all chalk, Davidson made a run last year)
Just too bad the final seven games seem to be on line to repeat 2008 -- dud games among elite teams. The only good weekend game we got was Villanova-Pitt, that's it. Mizzou hung in there, but that game never was in question and provided nowhere near the drama as KU-Davidson.
You would think all-chalk tournament games would provide better games. But the past two years, at least going into next weekend, they haven't.
Don't know what Missouri game you were watching. It sure seemed to be in question when it was tied with 8 1/2 minutes left. Or when UConn led by two with less than six minutes left. Hell, it was a four-point game with 2 1/2 to go.
I thought that was a terrific game -- very entertaining -- and Missouri is a fun team to watch.
Just never got the feeling UConn would lose that game when Mizzou never could get over the hump. A good game, sure, but no drama down the stretch. Villanova-Pitt aside, no buzzer-beaters, no defensive stands, no clips begging to be included in "One Shining Moment."
