No, not the real doggies, my feet!

Seriously, if anyone knows any tricks to help ease the pain when I get home I'd be appreciative. I'm not used to being on my feet all day and damn they hurt after a shift at the City.

Any and all advice would be appreciated!

You don't remember the whole toe amputation thread a while back?

I seem to remember radio executive Arthur Carlson having some foot powder one day ...

No. No I don't.

Pity. It's an SJ classic.

Jeebus, that was when i didn't have internet access. Holy **** the **** I missed on here. That was hilarity to the extreme.

But seriously, the dogs they are a still barking. I would think soaking them might do good, but I dunno. Maybe someone has a better remedy?

This helps me:
1) Kick the shoes off.
2) Take your socks off, but just for a minute or two. Give 'em some air.
3) Rub your feet for minute with the socks off.
4) Put the socks back on (or don't; either way works) and find a nice, soft carpet. Wiggle your toes around on the carpet.
5) Wash your hands. You've just touched nasty feet.

Usually helps me a little, anyway. The big thing is just to stay off them for an hour or two.

Well, the shoes are off at the office but I'm not going as far as doing the socks thing, although I've seen people do that and I get/got disgusted at seeing that they had the temerity to walk barefoot on carpet that hasn't seen a vaccum cleaner since Hoover was in diapers.

Try Hyaluronic Acid supplements -- they're great for nourishing aching joints, muscle and cartilage in any part of the body, and work much faster than glucosamine.
And rub a tiny, dime-size amount of Emu oil on your feet (or anywhere that hurts). It truly is a wonder ointment.
You can get HA and Emu oil in most any health food store.

Emu oil? I'm afraid to ask what part of an Emu is milked for such a thing.

The actual emu. Though no emu is hurt. It's been used by the aborigines in Australia for thousands of years. I've two brothers, one in the military, the other a professional triathlete, and this is the wonder "drug" that keeps their bodies in top physical condition.
I used to get terrible neck pain from traveling and lugging around my lap top, and a dab of Emu oil rubbed into my shoulder every now and then helped cure it. Chiropractors swear by it. I know a podiatrist who sells it.
It might seem expensive -- about $25 for a few ounces, but those ounces will last a year.

Cool, I'll look into it.

Good luck.
Here's some basic info:

I read this in a magazine and it's worked for me: alternate soaking your feet in hot and then cold water. Do it for 5 minutes hot, then 5 cold, then 5 more in hot and then 5 in cold.

Foot pain sucks.

Another trick: Freeze a mostly-full plastic water bottle and roll it under your feet. Good for bringing swelling down.
